Think the Woodstock Town Hall is Worth Saving? Attend the November 15 Meeting!

On Monday, November 15 at 6:00 p.m. at Town Hall (and via Zoom), the Selectboard and Village Trustees will meet to hear a presentation about the Town Hall Rejuvenation Project (THRP).

Members of the public are STRONGLY encouraged to attend the meeting, which was requested by members of both boards to get up to speed on the complex project. The project’s aim is to create a safe, accessible, energy-efficient building that will remain a cultural and community resource for the town well into the future.

The leadership team will present several plans with cost estimates at the meeting, followed by questions from Selectboard members, Trustees, and the public.  The team has been examining serious issues such as potential instability of the addition that houses the theatre stage in the event of a flood, along with federal disability act requirements for employees and visitors, heating and air conditioning deficiencies, a desire for new theatre seats, and the potential for an upgraded lobby/concession area and renovated public restrooms.

With privately donated funds, the committee has gathered expert recommendations and commissioned preliminary drawings, along with cost estimates for three plans ranging in complexity and cost. Financing for the project would come from a combination of private donations, public fundraising, grants, and taxpayers through a bond payment approved by voters.

The presentation will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Town Hall or by Zoom, with questions starting at 7:00 p.m. Pre-registration, a mask, and either proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test will be required to attend in person.
